I chose to do this picture because I thought the girl would really stand out in the black background. I wanted to make the girls hair stand out to show how even though everything around her is dark, she is still beautiful.
Some difficulties I had with this project were working with the oil pastels and blending them together. The background wasn't so hard because it was just black. But it was really hard trying to make the hair look like it was flowing. Also making it lighter in some parts was a little tricky. Another problem I had was trying not to get the pastels on the other parts of them picture. For instance the red on the hair was getting on her face and when I tried going over it with more oil pastel it wouldn't cover up. So I just decided to use acrylic because it was the best way to cover up the red marks. Also obviously getting it done it time was an issue as well.
Now that the picture is done I'm ok with how it turned out. I wish I could have stayed consistent used oil pastel throughout the whole thing. So I think next time I'm probably going to be a little bit more careful with it.
